Oil viscosity for 2002 E46 325i?

What oil viscosity do I use for my bmw? (what does bmw recommend for my model) I live in CaliforniaOil viscosity for 2002 E46 325i?
Read your owners manual. It will say to use an oil that meets BMW LL-01 spec. I believe the spec is 5W-30 but you can use a 0W-30 as well.

The only motor oils that meet this LL-01 spec are the BMW-brand synthetic oil (from your BMW dealer), Mobil One 0W-40, or Castrol Syntec 0W-30. Using these oils will allow you to go the full length of the BMW service interval, which I think is 10,000 miles between oil changes.

You can use most any 5W-30 oil you want, preferably synthetic, but your oil change interval must be shorter than 10,000 miles.Oil viscosity for 2002 E46 325i?
